How many people have a 14 year old son without a smart phone?

My wife and I bought my son a smart phone when he was 13. It was the biggest mistake I ever made as a parent. He's constantly on it and we have had a couple instances of him downloading apps that he should not be downloading. We have Sprint which has poor parental controls. We have tried to control it ourselves, but that's a losing battle.

Took him to the Sprint store on Saturday and bought him a "dumb" phone with no data. Hated to do that because the phone is how kids stay connected to each other these days, but I'm hoping that it's one of those things he'll think me for one day in the future.
